  1. You write, “while there is no data available yet on the effectiveness, the staff is positive about Summit.” If it is only being used in 5th grade, do you mean the 5th grade teachers? And when you were talking with them, was there an administrator there which might have limited their freedom to speak frankly about the platform?

  2. Sorry I didn’t make this clear. To the first part of your question about no data available yet, that was a statement from the principal. Yes, only 5th graders have used Summit at this point. I assume he meant that there hasn’t been standardized test data yet to provide evidence for a benefit from use of the platform. The statement about the staff being positive about Summit was my general impression. The principal was not in the classrooms or in the meeting when the teachers and students spoke to our visiting group. However, the Highlander Institute coach was there throughout. I got the sense from the teachers that they were still in the process of figuring out how to use the platform, but they also did seem to be positive about it.

P.S. You must have scrolled down and put your reply on my first blog post from last year instead of on the latest post. If you get a chance, could you please re-post your comment on the Summit post so others can find it? Thanks! (I’m still not completely clear how wordpress works myself.)
